For kids, our self-paced, hands-on classes are an unforgettable learning experience. Many students come back year after year to continue building their skills, making a wide range of projects with full creative freedom as they grow into their teen years. In our studio classes, they build confidence and enjoy the special satisfaction that comes from using their hands, heart and mind on tasks they may not have the opportunity to do at school. As an added bonus, they make friends and have fun while learning an important life skill!
Kids learn fast by seeing and doing
Even as young as 6 years old. They quickly master the sewing machine to create fun crafts, easy clothes, fashion accessories, bags and even quilts.
Kids intuitively tap into their creativity
By selecting fabric, customizing embellishments, and adding their own special touch to each of their projects.

Kids develop a broad set of skills
Using math when taking measurements and calculating fabric yardage for projects; developing drawing skills for fashion illustration; and refining motor skills while using their tools; operating a sewing machine; and generally learning to appreciate the work process involved with a technical and creative project.
In our 15-year history introducing kids to sewing and mentoring their ongoing progress, some former students of Thimble Fingers Sewing Studio have gone on to Houston’s High School for the Performing & Visual Arts, The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in NYC and The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in LA. We are proud and delighted to have contributed some of the essential skills for their success!
